My Story
Shaping Technology, Leading Change & Priming the Future
Hello there!
I’m Tamia Booker, a Senior Cloud Solutions Architect with expertise in on-premises Windows Infrastructure, App Data, Azure Identity and Access Management (IAM/IdM), Azure Security, enterprise systems, and complex technical strategies. I have a passion for designing innovative cloud solutions that transform business capabilities and bring people together through successful projects.Take a moment, have a sip of delicious coffee, and explore my work, experience, and achievements below.
Living Life Outside of the Lines:
Having an Authentic Work-Life-Balance Matters
As a seasoned Senior Cloud Solutions Architect, I specialize in designing secure and scalable Azure architectures. My career spans across collaborating with global teams, driving digital transformation, and leading critical projects in cloud security, IAM, and data governance. With a background in business analysis, DevOps, and IT cloud solutions, I bring a multidisciplinary approach to solving complex technology challenges.
I’m someone who believes in living life with purpose, a little adventure, and plenty of curiosity. Whether I’m exploring the wide-open spaces of the West Coast deserts on an off-road vehicle or diving into the intricate details of hard tech work, I find joy in both the thrill of discovery and the satisfaction of getting things done right.A few things you should know about me:Hats Are My Thing – Handmade wide-brim Ranchers are my personal favorite. I love the mysterious, sophisticated look of classic figures like John Wayne and cowgirls—there’s something about that style that speaks to my adventurous side.Travel and Adventure – I find peace in the deserts of the West Coast, where off-roading is one of my favorite ways to unwind and reset. There’s something about being out there, surrounded by nature, that’s both humbling and exhilarating.Old Movies and Museums – I’m a big fan of classic films, especially Audrey Hepburn’s timeless style and grace. You’ll often find me wandering through museums, soaking up the stories of the past, or enjoying a quiet afternoon with an old black-and-white film.Tech Work, Done Right – I take pride in rolling up my sleeves and diving deep into hard technology work. There’s nothing more satisfying than solving complex problems and creating solutions that make a real impact.
The Tale of the Labyrinthine WAN:
Untangling & Decommissioning Legacy Windows Servers and Migrating to Azure
When I walked into this server room, it felt like spaghetti night at Mom’s on a boring Wednesday—cables everywhere! I had to separate the communications cabling from the security lines just to make sense of it all. The AT&T vendors? They took many mental breaks… and can you blame them? There were failures, project plan moments where things went off the rails, and let’s not forget an outage or two. But through all the chaos, I reconfigured firewall rules, implemented ExpressRoute, and ensured identity federation with Azure AD.I live to tell the story of this epic, non-fable event, where this tangled mess became a seamless, scalable Azure cloud environment."
How Will I Contribute as a Consultant, Architect, and IAM Expert to Drive Success in 30, 60, and 90 Days?
The first 30 Days, What Will I Be Focused On?
In a Consultant Role:
Begin assessing current systems and processes, conducting stakeholder interviews to gather pain points, and performing gap analysis on existing security and identity frameworks. In an Architect Role:
Participate in solution design meetings, working to understand the architectural landscape and starting to provide recommendations for improvements or optimizations. In a IAM Security Role:
Review the current IAM setup, including access control mechanisms, single sign-on (SSO), and multi-factor authentication (MFA) implementations. Provide an initial assessment of risks and compliance gaps.
Within 60 Days, What Will Be My Impact?
In a Consultant Role:
Draft and present initial findings, including risk assessments, opportunities for operational improvements, and potential security enhancements. Begin writing SOWs and redlines based on client needs. In an Architect Role:
Lead technical deep dives into the IAM architecture and cloud security solutions. Develop a detailed, scalable architectural roadmap and start the design of Proof of Concepts (PoCs) for identity management and security systems. In a IAM Security Role:
Implement IAM best practices and initiate deployment of security features like role-based access control (RBAC), advanced MFA, and privileged access management (PAM). Begin training internal teams or client staff on IAM tools and processes.Within 90 Days, What Will Be My Impact?
In a Consultant Role:
Deliver actionable recommendations through formal reports, helping clients or internal stakeholders implement key initiatives from the analysis. Lead client strategy sessions to ensure alignment with business goals and risk mitigation strategies. In an Architect Role:
Oversee the full deployment of PoCs and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement the full IAM architecture, ensuring scalability and security. Facilitate workshops and Architect Design Sessions (ADS) to discuss long-term strategies for ongoing improvements. In a IAM Security Role:
Ensure the IAM solution is fully operationalized, with automation of identity provisioning and continuous monitoring in place. Lead incident response and fine-tune security configurations to align with compliance requirements.
Are You Open to Travel?
Yes, I hold a valid US Passport. I am open to the consideration of travel 10%-25% of the time for region client engagements, architect design sessions (ADS), and technical workshops. I believe in maintaining a hands-on approach where necessary and can travel to meet the needs of high-priority projects. However, remote and hybrid work options are also acceptable, and I’m based in the Atlanta area, making it convenient to support businesses locally or across the country.
What Kind of Work Environment Are You Looking For?
I am comfortable with remote, hybrid, or in-office environments within reasonable commuting distances; as long as it supports productivity, brainstorming, commraderie, and collaboration -- I support it.Based in Atlanta, GA, I’m available for regular on-site work within the area. Notwithstanding, I am also very proficient in remote collaboration tools to ensure efficient teamwork no matter where I’m working from or with whom I am working alongside (US, EMEA or APAC territories).
How Do You Approach Cross-Team Collaboration in Large Organizations?
I am a firm believer that the success of any project depends on strong cross-team collaboration.I prioritize clear communication and setting expectations early on. I’ve worked in environments where I regularly liaised with PMO teams, app development, infrastructure, and project managers to ensure alignment across various functions. I leverage collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Jira to keep everyone in sync and ensure that we’re always moving toward the same goals.
What Is Your Salary Expectation?
I believe that total compensation should encompass more than just the base salary. I look for packages that include performance bonuses tied to achieving key milestones, opportunities for equity or stock options, and comprehensive benefits that support long-term continuous learning and well-being.Additionally, I welcome sign-on bonuses and would appreciate discussing how performance bonuses are structured and distributed. Ultimately, I value total compensation packages that recognize both short-term contributions and long-term growth potential.

Remember Me for Who I Am and What I Bring to the Table
“In every technical body or work, cloud migration or IAM project, the technology is only half the battle; the real win comes from understanding the human element— how teams, users, and leaders will adopt, interact, and benefit from those innovations. I bring that full circle.” ~ Tamia
